Description:
Since Mayan times, Cozumel has been a very important pilgrimage center. The island has always welcomed visitors from all over for its beauty and mysticism. In pre-Hispanic times, the Mayans came to visit the goddess Ixchel in canoes. They arrived on the island, just as our visitors still do today, but now they arrive in large floating hotels. You'll learn more than 500 years of history about how the Mayans lived and where the Spanish first arrived on the island during the conquest.
Itinerary:
Visit the largest archaeological site on the island and discover its beauty with a local guide. Afterward, you'll visit the eastern side of the island, where you'll admire the most beautiful landscapes of the Caribbean Sea. You can ask your guide to make stops at the most beautiful spots along the way to capture the best memories. We'll visit a restaurant located on the seashore where we take some delicious Mexican fajitas. You will also have the opportunity to snorkel from the shore and admire the beauty of the reefs. Afterwards, we'll make our last stop at a completely natural cenote. The guide will explain the different types of cenotes and how their formations occur. You'll also be able to enjoy the beautiful, clear waters. San Gervasio ruins are located mid-island, and we will collect the entrance fee. However, a federal tax is required and collected at the site. There is also a guided tour by archaeological staff at the ruins and guests can check the rates online.
